Join a supportive community of women working together to help girls
in grades 3rd through 8th build self-esteem, make healthy choices,
develop strategies to address problems, achieve personal and academic
success, all while building meaningful, strong relationships.
Program Time: Thursday, 1-2pm twice a month October 2024 – June 2025, 17 sessions total including three field trips (9am to 2pm) on three of the Thursdays.
Location: Sandtown-Winchester Achievement Academy, 701 Gold St, Baltimore, MD 21217
General Mentor Expectations:
- Make
your best effort to attend all sessions and field trips (generally held
on Thursdays, twice a month, from October through June)
- Practice the affirmations at each mentoring session.
- Demonstrate
to your mentee that you are consistent, dependable, and trustworthy,
and be honest and be yourself to earn the trust of your mentee.
- Value the diverse economic, cultural, and religious characteristics of your mentee and fellow mentors.
- Volunteer to bring a healthy snack or treat to at least one mentoring session.
- Help in planning, set-up, and/or clean-up of parties and contribute towards holiday and yearend gifts for the girls.
- Participate in periodic mentors’ meetings held before or after mentoring sessions.
- Have fun with your mentee as you learn and grow together!
